Dear Prospective Graduate Student:

Thank you for your interest in the clinical training program in Psychology. Please be advised that ALL materials must be received in our department before you can be considered for acceptance and/or for an assistantship by FEBRUARY 15. Since we have a limited number of training openings we encourage you to check with your letter writers, college records office and ETS (GRE) to be certain that your requests for supporting materials have been mailed in good time. We also offer a personal interview for all candidates and believe this is an advantage for both admission and GA consideration. This experience also provides the prospective student an opportunity to visit the campus and talk to faculty and clinical students.

Our program involves two years of graduate study and training. The length of the program, in part, is based on the recommendation of the Council for the Applied Master's Training in Psychology which requires a minimum of two years of graduate training. A list and sequence of courses are enclosed with application materials.

Upon examination you will note that our training emphasizes three clinical training components: psychotherapeutic interventions, psychological assessment and research. Graduates typically enter mental health employment with some students eventually returning to graduate school to study for the doctorate.

Eastern is one of the most cost-effective universities within the Illinois State system. Clinical Psychology and the Graduate School are committed to financially assisting as many qualified students as possible. Departmental assistants receive a monthly stipend and tuition waiver and off-campus assistantships allow for students to be paid either a stipend or salary at an approved human service agency as well as a tuition waiver.
